beaches, parks and shopping areas to businesses, colleges, even Downtown
Los Angeles and L.A. International Airport."

of Transportation (LADOT). "The City of Los Angeles Department
of Transportation (LADOT) currently operates the second largest fleet in
Los Angeles County next to LACMTA. LADOT's transit fleet consists of
nearly 400 vehicles which operate over 800,000 revenue hours and serve
approximately 30 million passenger boardings per year."

Transportation Authority (Metro) is unique among the nation’s
transportation agencies. It serves as transportation planner and
coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country’s
largest, most populous counties. More than 9.6 million people – nearly
one-third of California’s residents – live, work, and play within its
1,433-square-mile service area."
- Regional Integration of Intelligent
Transportation Systems (RIITS). "RIITS stands for Regional
Integration of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The Los Angeles County
Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), sponsors the RIITS network.
Caltrans, City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT),
California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Metro all contribute information
collected through their own Intelligent Transportation Systems to the
network using the Los Angeles County Regional ITS Architecture and
National ITS Standards. The network supports information exchange in
real-time between freeway, traffic, transit and emergency service agencies
to improve management of the Los Angeles County transportation system and
better serve the traveling public. RIITS also provides data to traveler
information services of all kinds, which allows them to reach the widest
possible audience."
