Clean Marinas California Program.
"The Clean Marinas California Program is a partnership of private marina
owners, government marina operators and yacht clubs in California. The
Clean Marinas California Program was developed to provide clean facilities
to the boating community and protect the state's waterways from
pollution."
Government
California Department of Boating and
Waterways. "With California's beautiful and plentiful waterways,
it comes as no surprise that recreational boating is a popular leisure
time activity, contributing $13 billion to the economy annually. But
safety concerns have brought this pastime under the jurisdiction of state
and federal law covering required equipment and safe and legal operation.
Over the years beginning in the 1950's, aquatic recreational trends have
become topics of interest, from water-skiing to fishing to windsurfing to
personal watercraft operation.
The Department of Boating and Waterways (or 'Cal Boating' for short) was
created to help develop convenient public access to the waterways and
promote on-the-water safety. Funded by vessel registration fees, boating
fuel tax dollars, and boating facility construction loan payments..."
California Boating Safety Officers
Association. "The California Boating Safety Officers Association
was established in 1973 by a small group of officers that saw an need to
improve the training and interaction between all of California's Boating
Safety Officers. The task is no small feat because over one hundred and
fifty local, state or federal agencies provide some level of boating
safety and enforcement in California."
