  • California Historic Route 66 Association. "California Historic Route 66 Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, promotion and enjoyment of Historic Route 66 in California. There is such an organization in each of the eight Route 66 states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. We are independent of one another and ours is the youngest. Our history coincides with December 1990 legislation designating Route 66 as "State Historic Highway Route 66". This legislation made signage permissible for the previously decommissioned federal highway.

Our association was instrumental in designing historic signs and California Transportation Authority (CALTRANS) responded to our request for directional signs to guide you to the Route from Interstate highways 40 and 15. CALTRANS produced and erected the earliest historic signs which, unfortunately, were stolen almost immediately. From there it was up to us to encourage Route 66 communities, businesses or individuals to purchase and erect signs."
  • Historical Society of Southern California. "The Historical Society of Southern California has a wide range of programs designed to reach out to all who are interested in the people, places and fascinating stories of our past; especially the history of Los Angeles and Southern California."
  • History Graduate Student Association of the University of California at Irvine. "The History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) is the official representative organization of the Graduate Students in the Department of History in the School of Humanities at the University of California, Irvine. As such, it works to provide both a sense of community among graduate students and a shared voice for those graduate students within the Department of History."
  • Los Angeles City Historical Society. "The mission of the Society is to research, study and disseminate knowledge of the rich and diverse multi-cultural history of the City of Los Angeles, to serve as a resource of historical information; and to assist in the preservation of the city’s historic records."
  • Loyola Marymount University History Society. "The purpose of the History Society is to promote interest in the study of the past and to bring together faculty members and students who share the same interests. For this purpose, the history department maintains an e-mail directory with the names of all history majors, minors, and any student who wants to receive information about events in the history department.

The history society supports talks by faculty members about their research and also helps to develop student panels that discuss current events.

The history society also organizes socials, such as a Halloween party, Christmas party, and a softball game against the Political Science Department.
  • Occidental College History Society. "The Occidental History Society is an open forum for members of the Occidental community studying history or interested in history. Its purpose is to give members the opportunity to interact with other people who are interested in history while encouraging the exploration of topics in history studied at Occidental or independently."
  • Southwest Oral History Association. "SOHA was founded in 1981 to serve practitioners of oral history in Arizona, southern California, Nevada, New Mexico and contiguous areas. Through publications, meetings, workshops, and other activities, SOHA supports and promotes oral history as a method for exploring and recording history, culture and current experiences in the Southwest. In this endeavor the association maintains close ties with the national Oral History Association. Membership in SOHA provides meaningful opportunities for participation in the exchange of information and the discussion of matters of common concern among those interested in oral history throughout the Southwest."
  • UCLA Undergraduate History Association (UHA). "The Undergraduate History Association at U.C.L.A. seeks to enrich the undergraduate History student's experience as a History major."
