Marinas

  • Long Beach Marine Bureau.   The Long Beach Marina, which includes Alamitos Bay Marina, Long Beach Shoreline Marina (Downtown Marina) and Rainbow Harbor / Rainbow Marina, truly has one of the greatest locations in California, if not the United States, for boat slip mooring. Boats are protected by a series of offshore breakwaters and by a natural south-facing bay. Our boating public appreciates the rapid access to open water, prevailing winds and close proximity
to Catalina Island. Sailing conditions in Long Beach are practically perfect year round. That is why Long Beach has been, and continues to be, home of the Congressional Cup, Transpac and Olympic trial races."

Organizations

  • Boys and Girls Club. "In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids."
  • Camp Fire USA Long Beach Area Council. "Camp Fire USA is one of the nation's leading not-for-profit youth development organizations, currently serving nearly 750,000 children and youth annually. Camp Fire USA, with national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., provides all-inclusive, coeducational programs in hundreds of communities across the United States. Founded in 1910, Camp Fire USA's outcome-based programs include youth leadership, self-reliance, after school groups, camping and environmental education and child care.

Serving youth from birth to 21, Camp Fire USA helps boys and girls learn - and play - side by side in comfortable, informal settings. Our coed programs allow parents to consolidate schedules for both their daughters and sons.
  • Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach. "Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach (GSCGLB) is a non-profit, 501-(c)(3) organization that has been serving girls since 1962. Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach provides opportunities for all girls to develop self-esteem preparing them to meet life's challenges and achieve their full potential. These opportunities are provided by a volunteer-led organization, supported by a professional staff.

Our council maintains two facilities, El Ranchito and Skyland Ranch, where girls can explore the outdoors, hike, cook over an open fire and sleep under the stars. A third site, Marine Landing, hosts a year-round waterfront program, which includes a fleet of kayaks and canoes. The council headquarters houses our administrative offices, a Girl Scout retail store, which carries uniforms and official equipment, and a training facility where certified trainers prepare women and men each year as Girl Scout volunteers."
