  • History of Cypress, CA from the City of Cypress. "The first Californians were Native Americans who lived in small villages known as rancherias and it is reasonable to assume that they found the area to be a profitable hunting ground. Native Americans of the area mainly ate grasses, herbs, roots, berries, nuts, or trapped small animals.

    As Cypress was a lush grassland fed by numerous artesian wells, one can easily envision roving bands of Gabrielinos, the dominant tribe in the area, foraging for the abundant food found in the region. The shelters of these early inhabitants of Cypress and of the area were made in a conical shape of poles covered by thatched grass or fibers..."
  • History of Cypress, CA from the Orange County City Guide. "Just how Cypress got its name is a bit of a mystery. The city never had many cypress trees, local historicans say. In fact, it once was called Dairy City after its principal residents - dairy cows.

    Civic leaders settled on the name Cypress when the city incorporated in 1956, and legend has it that cypress trees planted around the town's first school gave the area its name. But in one old school photograph unearthed by a city historian, no such trees appear..."

"Coastline Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is state-funded public education that provides high quality career preparation and guidance to meet identified educational standards and industry needs. Classes are intended for high school and adult students of all ability levels and are held in businesses, industries and schools. Coastline ROP is one of seventy two ROPs in California and one of four in Orange County.

    ROP instructors bring first-hand knowledge and experience to the classroom as a result of their recent employment in business and industry and are fully credentialed by the State Department of Education.

    ROP course offerings are based upon labor market demand. The curriculum is reviewed and updated regularly by business and industry advisors to reflect current standards, requirements, and practices."

    Anaheim Union High School District is proud to have the second highest API scoring school in the State.     The Anaheim Union High School District takes pride in providing outstanding programs in music, art, and athletics. The Anaheim Prep Sports/Activities Foundation, in conjunction with the District, provides for the Junior High School Intramural Athletic program, which has a 65% participation rate.

    It is widely known that the Anaheim Union High School District has a growing student population in the eastern sector. Studies have shown that smaller school sizes promote a better learning environment. With the complexities of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) compliance, the District desires to build a new junior high school to replace the former Fremont Junior High School, thereby achieving this goal.
