- Chamber of Commerce for the city of
Temple City, CA. "Inspired by community minded individuals, the
Temple City Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the high quality of life,
through the promotion of a strong local economy and active participation
of all business.
It is not a branch of city government, nor for that matter, a branch or
part of any government agency. Its members make a financial investment in
proportion to their size, to operate the organization. To many people, the
Chamber is the place where almost any question or problem on any phase of
community life should be answered. Membership is not limited to business
and professional people, but is open to the residents. With involvement
from the residential sector, we can only better communicate with the
business areas by an exchange of ideas.
The Temple city Chamber of Commerce shall continue to be the front door to
the community. Each day the Chamber is confronted with challenges needing
solutions. It is aware of the present and must be prepared for the future.
The aims of the Chamber will be accomplished through positive thinking and
positive action..."

History of Temple City. "Behind the story of the proud family
bearing the name of Temple, lies the romance of missions
and ranchos, the gallantry of the pioneering dons and beautiful seņoritas,

San Gabriel Valley including the derivation of many of the street names in
Temple City..." From the Temple City government.
- Temple City Public Library.
"Founded when Willa Samson initiated a small lending library in her home.
In 1924, Mrs. Samson's rental cottage (9961 Woodruff Avenue) became the
first official library site with Mrs. Samson as Temple City's first
librarian. When the library outgrew its surroundings, it was relocated in
the abandoned Pacific Electric building (corner of Las Tunas and
Kauffman). In 1941, the library moved to the new Woman's Clubhouse's west
wing. In January 1953, the library was housed in the County's new building
on Kauffman where, for the first time, a children's department was added.
The present location was opened in 1963...The collection totals 120,637
books, 5,530 audio recordings, 5,813 video recordings, and 88 magazine and
newspaper titles, as well as other special materials such as Chinese,
Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese and Spanish language materials, telephone
directories, business reference materials, college catalogs, and
